Why Keto? Why Now?

Type 2 Diabetes is clearly the highest it has ever been in human history. Estimated that 20% of the United States is Type 2 Diabetic, or Pre Diabetic. With these staggering figures, it is time to come to the realization that we have missed the mark on what a balanced diet is. We need to reshape our thinking into a simple, logical, approach that mimics that of our not so distant ancestors. Just 100 years ago people didn’t have imported fruits from around the world. People didn’t have Sugar added to almost every food cooked in the kitchen. We have consumed so many carbs in the last 40 years that we are losing out ability to burn fats off our own body.

Ketosis isn’t magic…. Ketosis is just the definition of how we are biologically set up to burn our stored body fat for fuel in times of need. It’s pretty simple, fruit grows in the summer, and fall so we can put on excess weight for the colder winter period ahead. When we take the carbohydrates down a notch or three we signal our body to start accessing some of this stored body fat. Body fat that can’t get burned (in excess), hangs around the body and actually alters our hormone production and leads to sickness or dis-ease. This is exactly what Insulin resistance or leptin resistance is….
